Abbey Lane United Reformed Church (URC) in Saffron Walden is seeking a dedicated and organised individual to join our team as a Church Administrator. This position offers the opportunity to serve an active community and contribute to the efficient operation of our church.

About the Role:
The Church Administrator plays a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of our church and handling various administrative tasks. The role involves working closely with our elders and members, ensuring efficient functioning and effective communication within our church family. The successful candidate will be accountable to the Elders, with one elder designated as the line manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to elders, treasurer, church secretary, and Fabric and Finance committee.
- Maintain church records in Office365, including membership databases and other key documents.
- Coordinate and manage church calendars, including rotas, meetings, and events.
- Prepare and distribute the weekly newsletter.
- Support the maintenance and upkeep of the church buildings, coordinating repairs, cleaning services, and building security.
- Maintain an inventory of church supplies and equipment, ordering replacements as needed.
- Assist in planning and organising church events, including worship services, special services, and funerals.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for the church, managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Coordinate communication between church leaders, staff, committees, and congregation members.
- Support compliance with copyright responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Supportive of the Christian faith and an understanding of the mission and values of Abbey Lane URC.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in office software, such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events or meetings.
- Previous experience in a similar administrative or office management role is desirable.
- The post requires an Enhanced DBS check.
